Potato Art for St. Patrick's Day

Luck of the Irish to you!  We enjoyed making our potato sculpture with popular symbols of Irish culture to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  The boys LOVED making this one.  It is simple and get them busy for a long time.  I especially liked it for my Little Guy this activity really helped him practice his fine motor skills.  Its tough work for a toddler to put toothpicks in a potato :)

This is what we did:

  1. Take a potato and slice off the bottom so that it will stand.
  2. Take objects you probably already have in your craft supplies and start attaching to the potato.
  3. We used tooth picks, chenille bendy things, poms, sequins, a marker, and googly eyes.  Be creative!  You could also paint the potato.
We enjoyed this activity.  Its fun to use non-traditional objects to create art!

  1. You could also use golf tees! This looks fun! We are going to try this activity this weekend!
